As de-escalation is a multi-faceted and complex topic, encompassing many peace and security challenges, the ‘De-Escalation’ project opens the floor to invited experts, researchers, policymakers, and officials to discuss the critical issues related to rising tensions between parties.

Through this series, we will address key questions such as the following: what role do back-channel negotiations play in the de-escalation process? How can we ensure that all key actors are included in de-escalation negotiations from the beginning? How do external parties influence the conflict escalation and de-escalation and how can they be managed? Drawing on their extensive experience, our experts provide valuable insights into current challenges and explore innovative approaches to addressing them.
